#1
This is a thread for GIMP 2.8 themes. They are NOT suitable for use on GIMP 2.10

The 32x32 Symbolic theme is here:

The 32x32 Colour Theme is here:

The 48x48 Symbolic theme is here:
https://bitbucket.org/paynekj/paynekj-gi...-Big-48.7z

The 48x48 Colour Theme is here:
https://bitbucket.org/paynekj/paynekj-gi...olor-48.7z

The 32x32 Dark Symbolic theme is here:

The 48x48 Dark Symbolic Theme is here:

These are all archived in .7z format and will need to be extracted into your personal profile Themes folder.

Please use this thread to report any issues (missing icons etc)

Note that at present I cannot find any way to change the Document History icon.

There is also an issue with the default colours and swap colour icons: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=739469 which limits how big they can be.

For comparison, the Default, Color-32 and Color-48 themes:

The symbolic themes:

The dark symbolic themes:

I extracted all of the themes and put them into by themes folder.  The "color" themes changed nothing.  The "icon" themes changed the size, but put the icons in a gray color that were difficult to recognize, as I am used to the color icons on my other laptop.  I need to change the size and continue to have color.  Any tips?

Which operating system and which version of GIMP are you using?

Can you talk me through exactly what you are doing to install and select the themes and which of the four have you tried?

I need someone with with Windows 10 and a hi res display to try things for me as I have neither.

Turns out to be user error. I only installed the symbolic theme and that appears to be in black and white. When I installed the color theme, I now get large color icons. I've tried all 4 and both the 32 and 48 work

I also have a surface pro and the icons are really tiny. I can't figure out how to make these plug ins work. I downloaded the files and unzipped them and then put them in the appropriate folder, but there is no change. Help! Please provide a more step by step approach.

Thank you

** Edit --I figured it out. Thanks!

Could you please explain how you solved it, I extracted and put the files in the themes folder. When I select 32 in preferences>themes and restart nothing happens. Surface pro 4,  2.8.18, Thanks

I had the same problem. Then I noticed when extracting it with 7-zip, it creates a "duplicate nested" subfolder. For example:
C:\Users\xxxxx\.gimp-2.8\themes\Color-48\Color-48\    (then a list of folders like 12, 16, 18, 22, etc)

Change this to:
C:\Users\xxxxx\.gimp-2.8\themes\Color-48\    (then a list of folders like 12, 16, 18, 22, etc)

That solved it for me. All themes, color and symbolic, show up.
Thanks for the themes.
