View GIMP on LARGE screen....
#1
Hi
....new to all this....but this seems just what I'm after Smile

Hoping to clean up some images from old B/W roll film negs/prints.....it appears that the heal function is going to be pretty useful!

As title says....I'm view ing GIMP on a large 'desktop'....65" from about 8 feet away...so I'm trying to get better control over ICON size, docking windows etc.

Any tips much appreciated
Thanks

Thread reference in #3 seems to fall short of 2.10.8....?

Pasted the Color-48 folder.....now have
C:\Users\"Name"\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\themes\Color-48

and all is present in the folder Smile
Have now selected Color-48 as my theme.....but no apparent change.
Must I be missing a step???

As your other post, that is a Gimp 2.8 theme. For Gimp 2.10 AFAIK Edit -> Preferences -> Icon Theme and Custom Icon Size set to Huge is equivalent.

Using a 4K display? Icons are still on the small side, try changing the display resolution to HD (1920x1080)

The developers are aware of the 4K issue, might be an improvement sometime in the future.

Tried this already.....HUGE is an improvement over large....and Small is almost invisible.
A setting like ...in the order of 2 or 3 steps up from HUGE would do the trick!! Big Grin

On my newly built system and newly installed gimp (Ubuntu 20.04 Gimp 2.10.18 resolution 1920x1080), custom icon size Medium is a little larger than small, but large and huge revert to the small size. (Screen grabs apparently too big to post here.). Looks like a bug.

You should post bugs here: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/issues/

However it looks like the same as this:  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/issues/2313

Not much hope from the devs

Can't be fixed in 2.10, works fine in master. Closing.

Works fine in master? Might be worth trying a 2.99 appimage. Only cost you a download and a bit of time.

Thanks, @rich2005. Yes, that's clearly the same issue. Not a very helpful response from AP. I'll perhaps try appimage when there's time.
