Are these really python3 Gimp plug-ins?
Posted by: Tas_mania - 11-19-2023, 10:20 PM - Forum: Scripting questions - Replies (4)

On this page from the Gimp dev site  I found a group of Gimp plug-ins made for python3. I thought I would try them in my Gimp snap pack which in theory can use both python 2 and 3.

They don't give any error messages yet the same set of old python2 versions don't work with errors. I can't tell if these python3 plug-ins are working or not. Any ideas?

  Gimp license
Posted by: movix97 - 11-19-2023, 08:43 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (3)

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, I would like to ask some information about Gimp, Gimp is free and open source right?
Can it also be used to create covers for ebooks or other digital products and then put them on sale? Or is there a limitation?
Thank you.

  Missing print options
Posted by: Crypto_Spike - 11-19-2023, 03:07 AM - Forum: OSX - Replies (2)

My wife has been using Gimp for printing sublimations and she ran into a problem a few days ago with the print menu.

The print menu had a Print Quality tab where the print quality could be adjusted. We had it set through this menu to print in the highest quality possible at 600 DPI, however the tab is all of a sudden missing and it only prints at the default 300 DPI setting, which is a considerable drop in quality from what she's normally been able to print at.

Can anyone give any insight into why this option has disappeared and how it can be restored? Google so far hasn't yielded any results relating directly to this problem and I haven't been able to figure out anything on my own through the program menu options. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Pictures won't show in Gimp
Posted by: Tumbleweed - 11-18-2023, 05:39 PM - Forum: Older Gimp versions (2.8, 2.6....) - Replies (7)

I have Gimp 2.8.16 and when I open pictures the files show and sub-files show but when I click the files, there are no pictures there. If I select "show all files" then they show but when I try to load, Gimp doesn't recognize the file name whether GIF, JPeg, etc. Also if I draw something in Gimp there are no extensions to select from to save. Also noticed when I went to "About Gimp" the link to Gimps web page doesn't work. Not sure what went wrong but I do know the last thing I did that could have changed things was when I did a disc clean up. I'm running Window 10 - 64 bit. I've read a lot of old complaints about similar issues but nothing worked or the person helping talked over my head. Not all that savvy with computer operations. Any help or ideas I would love. Thanks

  Assigning ICC Color Profiles
Posted by: labam003 - 11-17-2023, 05:35 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (1)

Hi,

I've looked at previous threads on this subject but as they are a couple years old, I was wondering if there is more current knowledge on this subject.

I am using GIMP 2.10.22 on OS 11.7.6 (Big Sur). I have tried multiple times following many different YouTube videos as well as GIMP's own documentation to assign an ICC color profile. I always end up with the window saying ICC Profiles Validation Failed. Color Profile is not for RGB color space. This is after I have added profiles in Preferences and saved them.

I would appreciate any suggestions how to resolve. I have started using CYAN but I can't help but feel there must be way to get it to work within GIMP. Thanks so much!

  Slice into layers?
Posted by: paulfh - 11-16-2023, 11:37 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (4)

I'm familiar with how to slice an image into separate images via Slice Using Guides, but what I would like to be able to do is slice into Layers within the source image.

I know I can do it by manual selection but when creating a lot of slices it can become too time consuming and it can be tricky to get the slice sizes right. Does anyone know if there is a plugin or script available that can automate this process? What I would ideally like is an automatic way to:

Select number of equally sized slices
Select whether they are done horizontally or vertically
Have them cut and pasted into new Layers

GIMP 2.10.34 - Windows 10

Thanks
Paul
