New to Gimp - iEnemyBeneath - 06-23-2018

Hello all,

I am very very new to Gimp and image programs in general.  I have been trying to make logos and stuff for my Twitch stream.

I am having an issue when I make a circle and fill it with color.  As soon as I do Select---->None, the whole page changes color and I can't seem to figure out how to keep that from happening.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance,
iEnemyBeneath

I want to note that I have followed along with youtube videos to get the feel of the program and for some reason my program doesn't seem to work the same way as the people's in the video. Almost like I missed I step along the way.

Gimp 2.10 does work in slightly different ways to Gimp 2.8 Use these old videos to give you ideas that you can apply to your work. Gimp has a steep learning curve. Nobody becomes an expert overnight. Just keep trying and you will get there.

My guess is you are using the bucket fill tool, and still using it after you kill the selection. Could be wrong, but running through the procedure.

Make an elliptical (circular) selection. screenshot https://i.imgur.com/rKmSO9A.jpg

To get out of that and leave the active selection, various choices
Hit the Enter key or Choose another tool

So, choose the bucket fill and click in the selection. https://i.imgur.com/vIDQGe9.jpg

Choose another tool. Now kill the selection Select -> None https://i.imgur.com/Ft2kmIv.jpg
