Unselect selection and merge all Layers? - pstein - 12-27-2023

Assume I select a rectangle and moved it inside the image.

How can I unselect the current selection?

How can I merge all current layers into one layer (=the base image)?

I found no toolbox symbol or menu

Use the Gimp menu Select -> None (keyboard shortcut Shift-Ctrl-A)
Use the Gimp menu Image -> Merge Visible Layers (keyboard shortcut Ctrl-M)
