It all stopped - Robert Foster - 01-04-2024

So everything was working fine, but I needed to upgrade my Mac for some programs I run. So I upgraded to Sonoma 14.2.1 and Gimp stopped working. So I looked and I needed to upgrade Gimp... so I did. The program opens fine, but after I load in a project (any project I have tried several older ones) everything stops and the cursor just turns into an endlessly spinning ball. I attempted a screenshot, but the moment I do so the cursor goes away. Is anyone else running into this? Or is it just me? Gimp is a major workhorse for what I do and I would not want to lose it. Dodgy

Hi! Did you update to 2.10.36 or 2.99.16? Since you posted here I'm assuming 2.99.16, in which case you should switch to the stable 2.10.36 version (https://www.gimp.org/downloads). If you're on 2.10.36, you might try the development version (https://www.gimp.org/downloads/devel/).

Let us know which one you're on and we can try to diagnosis.

I am on 2.10.36. When I clicked on downloads this is the one it suggested for me.

No replies ? Not many active MacOS Gimp users on this forum.

Was working before Sonama update, not working now. I do not use a Mac, however I believe that "security" has been "improved" for Sonoma.

You could try checking the Gimp permissions as

https://www.securemac.com/news/macos-sonoma-security-privacy-guide Scroll down to the "Improved Permissions Feature" section.

Thank you, yep it's just been crickets around here. I tried your suggestion but it did not cover Gimp. So it looks like I am going to be walking away from this program for a while and learning something new.
