Change transparent color to white
#1
So basically I have a couple images that show up as black rather than white on sites that can't handle transparency, was just wondering if there's any easy way to change that

Besides adding them a background to remove the transparency?

I suppose that works yeah, was just curious if there's a way to change it since there's only a few images it effects. Call it curiosity.

Even simpler; set Buck-Fill to "Behind" mode and bucket-fill with background color. No need for selection...

Lacking in detail, could have done with one of the problem files. A bit of a guess at PNG format rather than gif or tiff.

The active background colour (bg) is saved with a PNG when it is exported. Very easy not to notice when it is currently black. Another option is the existing background, these values are also saved in Gimp by default.

If it is a viewer that shows the Alpha channel as the bg colour then you get whatever is saved (black or white). There are occasional viewers that totally ignore the alpha channel and will show the original background and that might have been black.

Make sure the bg is white not black
Save background colour is on (default)
Untick Save colour values from transparent pixels

Example of a viewer that uses bg colour for alpha and a more regular viewer with the checker pattern
