Overlay Question
#1
I'm very new to Gimp and I'm trying to make a custom map of North America. I first traced an image of the continent to create an outline like so.

Now, I'm trying to add the borders of the US States into the map. The original image I traced over didn't have the state borders. My problem is that I can't get a map that's fits my custom one for state tracing. The thin red lines near New England were my attempt to draw just off of a reference image of the United States. Is there any way to get the effect/result I'm going for by overlaying a map, or would it be better to restart with an image of N.A that has all the State borders in it already?

One problem is your map image, it does nor show for me. It is in your computer somewhere.

Open it in Gimp, export as a jpg or png and attach it to a post as this:

Without seeing your traced map, one way is get a map with state borders as a scalable vector Image (svg) and use that for an overlay.  Do a search but one place is here. https://simplemaps.com/resources/svg-us
Why an svg ? Import into Gimp any size
Snags: Maps come with different projections and you need to find one that matches your tracing
For example, I got part way there using a variety of tools but probably never get a good match.
