error installing gimp 3.2.6
#1
In Win 11 I downloaded the gimp-3,2.6-setup file and when it ran for a bit, it issued the following message..

C;\Users\alano\AppData\Local\Programs\GIMP 3\bin\libbrotlcommon.dll
An error occurred while trying to rename a file in the destination directory
Move file failed - Code 2
The system cannot find the file specified..

3 options were then proposed,  TRY AGAIN, SKIP THIS FILE (Not Recommended), CANCEL installation.
TRY AGAIN failed with same message, The SKIP option allowed the installation to complete but upon executing the GIMP application it resulted in the error message that llibbrotlcommon.dll was not found and GIMP would not start..
HELP..

Difficult to diagnose at a distance.  There might be some other application running which is using a libbrotlcommon.dll version.  From your other posts you have / had a Gimp 2.10 (another one I have is Inkscape )

If you have any uninstall entries for Gimp 3 then uninstall and check that no Gimp files remain.  Used to be that, a Windows restart was needed and a final manual delete.  A Windows restart is not a bad idea, might stop legacy files running.

Then try a new install. You previously accepted the default, this time install for All Users.  Just my opinion but I follow this sequence.
(1) Install for all users (2) Customize (3) Keep the default install location (4) You can save a little disk space by unticking debug / dev files / translations (5) desktop icon if you want one
Keep going until Gimp installs.

Just for reference, the Win 11 Gimp 3.2 files.

Tank you rich2005 for your timely response..
I thought about this issue and I managed to correct it.
What I did was to install the Inkscape app.
In the bin directory of Inkscape, I found libbrotlcommon.dll
I then instituted a Gimp 3.2.6 install and received the expected llibrotcommon.dll not found error which halted the gimp installation.
I then copied the libbrotlcommon.dll from the bin directory of Inkscape to the bin directory of gimp 3.
I then proceeded with the gimp installation skipping the dll file not found error.
After the gimp installation was complete, I shut down windows
I then started my windows PC again and now Gimp started normally with the 3.2.6.version.
thanks

Pleased you have something working.
Since I primarily use linux, I forget to mention the installer.
Always best to get it from http://www.gimp.org and not from MS Windows Store. (if that is your source)
