I'm using Gimp 2.10.
I am trying to save a red pencil tool preset. However, when i select the tool to draw with, it uses the current foreground color.
In the preset file the color is saved: (color-rgb 1.000000 0.000000 0.000000))
I've edited the tool and checked/unchecked Apply stored FG/BG but so far it doesn't work.
Am I missing something obvious?
Did you tick the
Apply stored FG/BG option before saving (not set by default)?
Just wondering if there is a problem with the Windows version ( or is that Win10 upgrade kicking in ?)
Works as expected in linux
Set up the tool - brush, size, FG colour, anything else. The save preset icon brings up the preset dock.
Give it a name.

Starting Gimp up again, select the pencil tool, go to restore preset, select. As:

Yes. I tried that several times.
Even though I'm on 2.10, the presets were stored in C:\Users\********\.gimp-2.8\tool-presets
I deleted the presets (which were created in version 2.8) and recreated them. They seem to be working now. I'm not positive that was the problem, but if I was forced to bet money.....that was it.
Thanks!

No.
Gimp 2.10 has its own Gimp user profile and keeps the tool preset .gtp files in
C:\Users\your-name\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\tool-presets
There is a chance that old files are copied over during the Gimp 2.10 installation. Often best to make a clean installation and add resources progressively making sure they work.
