Hi Guys,
I am a new user of Gimp, and have problems when separating images from backgrounds.
I follow what I think is the correct procedure as follows:
Import a JPG file. Select ‘Add Alpha Channel’. Select ‘Intelligent Scissors’. Use scissors to select portion to be isolated. Select ‘Invert’.
However when I depress CtrL + X, both the selected image and the background is deleted.
Where am I going wrong?

After using the Scissors press Enter to confirm the selection. You will get a moving dotted line (marching ants). Now Invert the selection, etc.

Problem solved - thank you
