Full Version: Rendering water in a pool in a few easy steps

1) Filters>Render>Noise>Solid noise and increase the Y size to stretch the shapes horizontally

2) With the Curves tool, apply a curve made of 4 to 6 sines

3) Color>Map>Gradient map and map with a Dark blue to light blue gradient

Now that Sinus has gone GEGL it has become a lot more fun.

Not bad, but you have little control on the shape, you have to click "New seed" until you get something you like.

Displacement map

I made this a long time ago. Its 50% inspired by the caustic lighteffects in Blade Runner 2049 and the other 50% by a Photoshop tutorial for text in a swimmingpool.
It was originally for a tutorial but for some reason i discarded the idea.

Used the same technique for the caustics as you did. Colouring with a layermask, though, not with a gradientmap.
Plus some more trickery.
