I had placed G'MIC in the Main Image Menu for convenience. It has since stopped working and I would like to remove the G'MIC word from the menu. Cannot find how to do that. Thank you for your help in advance.

I think you can reset it by simply removing the file pluginrc from your .gimp-2.8 folder to let gimp recreate the standard menu entries.
As you can read from that file (using e.g. notepad++) :
