Ok I'm new to GIMP and learning via tutorials. I have version 2.1, the only problem is some of the control seem to have disappeared, maybe I clicked something. But on the left side of the screen where you are supposed to be able to change bruch sizes the controls are not there

Did I click something wrongly?

Maybe you need to click on Windows > Dockable Dialogs > Tool Options and it should then show them.

Probably dragged the tab out of the dock by accident or you can close it but that option is a bit hidden.

My advice, reset to defaults. Edit -> Preferences -> Window Management click on Reset Saved Windows positions to Default Values then OK and restart Gimp.
