attachment=4463] Is there a way to fix this? Example: When using the brush on a non transparent layer, everything is fine and the transition is smooth. But when I draw on a transparent layer the transition isn't as smooth anymore and looks quite bad. I just hope there's a way to get rid of this.

Can you post a screenshot of the whole Gimp interface, tool / tool options / layers / title bar like this one:

I think I see some sort of banding which might be from 8 bit editing. You could try upping the precision to 16 or 32 bit FP and linear Use Image -> Precision menu.
