@rich2005 Thanks, I will check. Perhaps a bit to much for me
@Krikor Amazing, nice tool. I was looking for a service that supports transparent background
Rich2005: "There is the old Gimp Animation Package plugin (GAP) Big learning curve, Neurolurker (sometimes comes here) maintains the plugin."
I'm sorry to have to give up the promotion, but I believe I [or at least the alias] have possibly been mistaken for someone competent. I don't maintain any plug-ins.

Looking at some possibilities for animation transitions, for Gimp the G'mic plugin
http://www.gmic.eu in the
Sequences section the filter
Spatial Transition. This has several options + a custom formula option to play with.
Not Gimp and Linux (or Mac) only. An ImageMagick bash script from
http://www.fmwconcepts.com/imagemagick/transitions/ Very hands on but
you make the transition mask therefore you can make
your transitions unique.
Attached a pair of small 200x200 examples in webp format, gif animations tend to be too large to attach. All 15 frame transitions, need something smoother, increase the number of frames ( = even larger gif file). It is a bit strange since it produces an optimised gif by default.
edit: an easier view as a video: gmic on the left / IM on the right:

Thanks @rich2005 , I will go through and update. While the online service was great, I like to use GIMP on desktop if possible.
I am not able to use webp anywhere. Even Discord won't have it
