Very few sensible people on reddit, except Ofnuts and a couple of others. There was a post about the various versions of Gimp. One is for people who think "Gimp" name is offensive.

My initial exposure to Gimp was through Linux,  So there seemed to be an abundance of oddly named applications: gimp, lame, sane, gnome, yum, etc

It seemed to me as though Linux must have had a  former concert promoter for the Grateful Dead doing marketing

For me it was more like ETs in a bad SciFi novel: grep, lexx, yacc, rm...
