Hello,
Its been a few months since I've used GIMP (I have the latest version) and never had this problem before.
when I convert a PSD file then try to add color with the bucket or brush the colors are muted.
I can open a previous file and the colors are correct.

pic 2 is supposed to be pure white, pic three the blue is muddy and lighter

The Gimp built in color profile is essentially the same as sRGB IEC61966-2.1.icc do not worry about it.

I would check the layer modes above that working layer.

While Gimp can open a PS .psd file that format is propriety and not open. An element of guesswork is involved in back-engineering the Gimp psd plugin. PS functions such as adjustment and effects layers are not implemented, you get a guess.

A PS effects layer mode Linear Dodge (Add) becomes Addition mode in Gimp. Is it exactly the same ? I do not know.
problem solved
