Not really, both point out the possibility ( probable ) case that an external hosting site can disappear or change its terms (free -> to subscription only -> to paid for -> to close down and vanish with all the images. )

Some formats are not supported by the forum software and there is no choice. Video files / webp images

Yes, about time... requires me to upgrade the whole G-F.n (OS, PHP interpreter, etc...) but thinking about it.
