Hi,
I am experimenting with enhancement of old images.
The text and image on the right bottom are pale.
I would like the color darkness on the text and images on the right bottom the same as left top.
How to accomplish that in gimp.
Thank you and have a great day.
Mandy
Do you have a larger version ? The text being so small is very pixelated. Never going to be wonderful

However try:

Make a close selection around the text
Edit -> Copy then Edit -> Paste in Place
Make the floating selection a layer Layer to New Layer
Apply Colors -> Color to alpha pick the background (BG) and adjust to remove the BG and keep as much of the text as possible.
Use Colors -> Curves and try and improve the remaining text

This is a 60 second animation of that sequence: https://i.imgur.com/JOseh6A.mp4

You can try changing the layer mode as well, soft light or vivid light maybe, combining the layers.
Any 'overspill' you might clean up with the eraser tool.
duplicate your image in the layer dialog
Mode linear burn or multiply, then "new from Visible"
you can add a gradient mask id you want to fine tune, play with curves etc...

Wow Thanks,
The result looks great. I'm gonna try it myself too and will let you know how it went.
Kind regards,
Mandy

Hi,
I do have a larger version but I could not upload it because it was too big. Thanks for your animation, that helps a lot.
I'm gonna try it myself (just like the other tip) and let you know how it went.
I really appreciate it.
Kind regards.
Mandy
