Ok, it is a lot better then when i tried it years ago. But still missing in areas.

1 - File\open dialog box is bad. It should be like a file explorer so you can see your files both in list form and\or thumbnails (small,med.large). Just having a list is terrible if you have hundreds of pics in each folder. You should have thumbs so you can quickly scan for the picture you want to open. Who can remember what name or number goes with ea pict.

2 - Also File\Open, i want to have it always open to my picture dir\folder NOT recent. I can find no option to change this. Recent is nice to have but not as a default file open.

3  Toolbox is very limited. It should list ALL items in the drop down menus so to customize your toolbox how ever you want. Not just the few that are listed.

4 - Toolbox2, a second horz or vert toolbox for more customizing. More tools visible 1 click away. My preference is horzontal.
For some reason the menu\tools\toolbox sometimes list create new toolbox but nothing happens and nothing in the help about it.

5 - Fix mouse over on toolbox. If you have all group it works fine but it you have groups and single items mouse over locks up on the single item. You then have to click on a group item to get mouse over to work again. Mouse should not lockup just by scrolling over a single tool.

6 - Pet peeve - Default install should be to the program files directory not app\data folder. Just a nice extra feature when install is complete it should ask if you want to run\start gimp.

I know i am forgetting something but will find it more i get into gimp, maybe even more LOL.

This forum is for Gimp users, no Gimp developers here.

If you have suggestions for improvements or find a bug then the place to inform the developers is
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues

However: Gimp is developed in a linux environment. (1) and (2) is from a Windows user viewpoint You can always use a third party application like xnviewmp (or others) to manage files and open Gimp from there.
(3) You can customise the tool box from Edit -> Preference -> Toolbox screenshot https://i.imgur.com/sH8dMrW.jpg
(4) you better ask the developers for that
(5) Does not happen here: might be a hardware issue, dying mouse.
(6) The user profile is dictated by the way Windows works. I agree, the path is over long. However, the user can add extra folders in a more convenient location from Edit -> Preferences -> Folders I even do this in linux where file managing is easier than Windows.

Hey rich

3 - customising is not the issue, by default there are only 45 items in preference>toolbox to use. If all items from the drop down menu bars were listed you could make the tool bar any way or combination you wanted, hundreds of options.

6 - I got around it by uninstalling and then reinstalling using the custom install to install under "Program Files" where it should be. And with that it even installed a desktop shortcut where the appdata install did not.
