Just exploring GIMP for the first time.
I keep all of my images on an External Hard Drive but when I try to open a file through File - Open in GIMP the External Drive does not appear.

Is there a way to make this possible?

Not using OSX, but likely the OS preventing an unknown app to use external drives for "safety". Check some kind of OSX application settings.
