Been using Gimp for years. The icons that appear at the top of the workspace no longer appear when a file is opened.  Am using Gimp 2.10.28.

In the Gimp Windows menu there is a option for Show Tabs. Is it 'on'

Try in the menu: Windows - Show Tabs

"Show Tabs" worked instantly.  You get a deep, deep bow from this user.
