What is the best way to make a coin silver or coper?
You will probably have to re-make your coin in a grey format, suitable for bump-mapping. Bump mapping required to give some light and shadow and depth.

Then it is into the colour curves and you might get a metallic effect. It is not always easy. Copper a little easier, you can colorize the grey layer.

Use gimp / Colours / Hue-Saturation to change the gold color
- to copper : use the hue slider
- to silver : use the hue slider to get purple, the saturation slider to get less colour, the lightness slider to optimise
