You just convinced me,
size and look compared to gif is like comparing stone edge and nowadays.
I also learned that WebP supports 24-bit RGB color with an 8-bit alpha channel, compared to GIF's 8-bit color and 1-bit alpha ➤ Thus a way better image quality.

EDIT: do all webp showing a link on GF instead of an image...? You might need to update your website to show animated (or not?) webp directly in the post... that's a bit of a bummer to be obliged to click on the link... (in the end, may be it's websites slowing down the switch to webp...
