I do know how to take screenshots on my PS4 and phone but not on a laptop/PC

With Gimp: File>Create>Screenshot. And AFAIK on modern OSes hitting PrintScreen copies the screen to the clipboard (then in Gimp: File>Create>From clipboard). There are also scores of screenshot utilities available, allowing to preselect an area or window, and then to highlight/annotate the result.

Ofnuts beat me to it again, but in pictures
Just a reminder, Gimp does have a screen capture option.
In the Docs https://docs.gimp.org/en/gimp-file-create.html
In a Win 10 VM it might go like this:
1. Bring up the capture dialogue
2. Set the options you require, for a desktop - Whole screen and a short delay.
Then click Grab
3. Minimise Gimp before the delay runs out.
Gimp will open up again with the screenshot as a new image. Save/Export the image
