was using it... started at the top of head and worked way down... reached the thigh and the dots suddenly connected
started again... got a little further but same thing happened
wasted a lot of time .
went on to the scissors and got the job done... but sometimes the line
gets a little bit wavey .... !
Just wondering is there any way I could adjust the free select tool
to make it more stable ?
thanks for help or comment .
In Gimp 2.10, even after the "connection", you can still change things:
- Depressing the ⌫ key (backspace) undoes the previous step (removes a node, or re-opens the polygon)
- Putting the mouse over a node makes a circle appear and you can drag the node
This is valid until you "commit" the selection (double-click,
↵ (enter) or switch to another tool).
For complex stuff using the path tool is more efficient.
You can also
work out your selection piecemeal.
thanks for tip but Im in a mess right now... gimp is opening
up with just the pic in the middle.... nothing else, no tools controls or
anything
I can get the clone tool up but have no way of controlling
the size or anything else !!!
this is what Im seeing right now when I hit the gimp icon

Zero01 did ask you to hit the "tab" key, did you...?
Open GIMP, once it's opened hit the Tab key on your keyboard!
The "Tab" key is a toggle to show dialogs or hide dialogs..
thanks.. went thru hitting all the keys then hit key
with arrows pointing left and right and that one seemed to do it !
now got everything back ! relief !

On my keyboard that's it; the TAB key

would the ... backspace key.... have got me out of it ?
where exactly is this backspace key ?

Usually, somewhere above the Enter key (not to be confused with the (usually smaller) Del/Delete key).
