Most important bit - colour in a layer
under the white line.

Several ways to do that, If it was me I would just (carefully) paint in the areas.
However, you can use selections, the fuzzy select works with transparent areas.
1) Make a selection on the white line (top) layer
2) Grow the selection by a few pixels to overlap the white line.
3) Select the bottom layer and fill the selection.
Repeat the process for the other area.
60 second animation of that

well i have added a new layer
made the selection and third
3. i tried to grow the selection - but believe it or not - i turned it to max - 70 pixel - but there is now growing visible

Yes, but move the new layer (schrift) to under the line layer (Eingefugte Ebene). (1)

(2) I suspect you are on the wrong layer making the selection. You need to be on the line layer (Eingefugte Ebene) to make the selection. There is a marching-ants boundary indication.
(3) Growing the selection a small amount 4 or 5 pixels makes a better joint between line and colour.
(4) now move to the new layer (schift) and use the bucket fill tool to fill the area.
Click in the FG/BG icon to change colour using the RGB sliders.

Just keep trying and experimenting, it is better than any tutorial.
hello . yees now it works
i was a bit confused since i
a. had turned the border (enlarge ) to 79 and then to 1200 pixel - and nothing shoewd up
but - duhh - finally it worked - even for me.
many thanks for the great thread and for all you do - for the encouraging
and all the awesome steps and outstanding turorials

by the way - see the enormous amount of 1200 pixel - why on earth we do not see them in the preview..

The idea is the Eingefugte Ebene layer is on the top. Use this layer to make the selection
The new layer is on the bottom and is used for filling with colour.
This method is used so many times for making a new background it is worth learning.
i wll dig deeper into all that. many thanks fpr all you do.
Have a great day
