Full Version: Text randomly gets selected at the font edges?

I rebuilt my pc about 2 months ago and reinstalled GIMP.

Sometimes when I am editing or adding text, the text gets selected around the edges of the font, like it was an image.  But it's just text..  I have not done anything to the text.  And sometimes it does this to other text on the screen that has nothing to do with the text I was working with.  Like 1/3rd of the text layers on the screen.  This happens randomly and I have checked in the Preferences and tools, but found no setting that would do this...

Any Help is appreciated.

Wow, 3430 layers. Your screenshot does not show the layer dock but you get something like that when the text layer mode is Erase or Split (over a black layer)
Thanks for the Reply.   This is one file with Cockpit legends for many aircraft in DCS, IL2, MSFS, etc...  Lot's of layers, but it works fine.  Loads into gimp in 6 seconds.

Split & Erase were not even in the Layer Mode.  But I noticed that the Layer Mode was set to Legacy.  And the Mode was Normal(l).  Could that cause this?

Hey, it's in Legacy mode now with Normal(l), and I just noticed that this happens when I press the caps Lock key.  Each time I press it the selection changes by 1-2 pixels.

This text was 'BRT', and I typed sss.  Then I backspaced and pressed cap lock(and it started selecting the text), and type SSS.  Then backspaced to remove then SSS, this is what I ended up with.

EDIT:
This was strange, but I think that I found the problem.

In Keyboard Shortcuts, I found a command 'Add to Selection' that had a key called 'VoidSymbol' assigned to it.  IDK what that is, but it didn't sound good, so I changed it to Disabled.  Did the same tests, and now cap locks does not select any text anymore.  Time will tell, but it seemed immediately fixed.
