I have gimp 2.8 and I want to be able to put the word "sold" or a large letter "x" over one item in a photo array of photos all on one page. I will be selling items from that one page and I would like to be able to mark the sold ones rather than have to create several photos with only one item per photo. Can someone please tell me how to do this? Thanks in advance.

1. Open your image with the photo array

2. Create a new transparent layer above the image layer.

3. Paint a red X over one item

4. If you need to add a second red X:
Duplicate the first red X layer
Move this new layer to the required position
