Yes, it's a one-dimensional bend, not a 2D one. Still, a bend.

Wavy line made with ofn-path-waves (Sine, Length: 40, Amplitude: 4).
Sunray and checkerboard with this
technique from my blog.
Fake 3D is just an offset stroked path layer.
Dotty line was made by stroking a path with a brush and getting the Spacing right.
It was all a bit messy, with lots of layers and paths to manage. Pretty difficult to tweak or change.
