I have tried out, a bit, in kubuntu 24.04 & Mint 22 also kubuntu 22.04 (all a bit flakey but working)

guarantees - the usual there are none. I wonder if the Gimp devs are as fed up with Gimp 3 as I am
Finally ..... after several days of search, bumped into this thread and saw this appimage that has the GMIC. I can now try out the new versions....
