However: For Windows Downloading the Gimp 3.2.4 installer and running it does first uninstall the existing Gimp before installing the new version. All your settings and any additions plugins / brushes ...are still there in your gimp user profile.
C:\Users\"yourname"\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\3.2\.....
