Gimp 2.10 installation problem windows 11 - Henrymw - 08-19-2025

I have installed Gimp 2.10 on my Windows 11 on my laptop.
I have installed several times, including once when I temporarily shutting down my avg system.
However I never have been able to get a 'complete' installation.
I can find this since when using Edit->Preferences->Folders I do not see all the folders that should be there.
I believe this problem is preventing things such as effective messages from the python 2.7 scripts I am working on.
How can I get a complete installation?

Do you get any messages when starting Gimp ? - maybe missing dll's etc ?

Is the list truncated or just not there ? You did expand the list (just asking Wink  )

Does Gimp 2.10 open and in the Filters menu is there a Python-Fu entry ?

If Gimp definitely does not work, then maybe one last try at an install
First, purge Gimp - Delete the Gimp user profile. C:\Users\"yourname"\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\
Use the Windows uninstall menu and uninstall Gimp.  There are always left overs which need a Windows restart and a manual delete C:\Program Files\GIMP 2
Then try a Gimp install.  A first run remakes a default user profile.

If all fails then try a portable version.  A bit on the large size

It has an English starter. Uses its own folder for a user profile.

Looks to me that you have not expanded the folders in Preferences Click on the +
