Plain black borders coming out speckled - foxycologist - 10-06-2025 I'm using the Borders tool in GIMP 3.0.4, with the border colour set to black, and the borders added are black with white speckles all over them. Is there a setting somewhere that I have missed, or is this a bug? Is there a setting somewhere that I have missed, or is this a bug? Is this the Filters -> Decor -> Add Border filter. I can not reproduce a speckled effect here... but can you give more details. A screenshot showing the layers dock as a starting point. Any layer effects active ? RE: Plain black borders coming out speckled - foxycologist - 10-06-2025 Ah, you gave me the clue I needed! Since posting, I had also noticed that edits made with the cloning tool showed the same speckling. So I checked the clone tool settings, and found that somehow I had switched it to mode Dissolve rather than mode Normal. Changed it back, and the Add Border tool gives me pure black again. Is that clone tool setting intended to affect other filters? Anyway, thanks, you've solved my problem for me. |
