How to remove items from images that have complicated backgrounds - rinaldop - 10-07-2025 Hello again one and all, I know the answer to this is incredibly simple and I used to know how to do it but I am embarrassed to say that I cannot remember the details. I know that there is a tool that when an area is erased the area is filled with an approximation of the area surrounding it. I want to remove the horizontal orange bullet point lines from the image below so that I can put them back in at different positions. As always, thanks! An alternative is the gimp_gmic_qt plugin, which has the filter inpaint. http://www.gmic.eu Some old examples https://patdavid.net/2012/08/getting-around-in-gimp-heal-selection/ https://patdavid.net/2014/02/getting-around-in-gimp-gmic-inpainting-content-aware-fill/ RE: How to remove items from images that have complicated backgrounds - rinaldop - 10-07-2025 CLONE TOOL Thank you! RE: How to remove items from images that have complicated backgrounds - zeuspaul - 10-07-2025 My approach would be copy and paste followed by cloning and healing. Using rectangular select I would select using in this case rectangular select the area that needs fixing. Then switching to the move tool I would move the selection using Ctrl-Alt to the area just above. Then Ctrl C Z to copy and then return the selection to its original place then paste and then merge layers. Followed by healing. |
