GIMP 3.0.6 only uses a few fonts - MetalJack - 12-03-2025

Hi
Gimp only uses maybe 10 fonts and the rest don't have any affect, I added the windows fonts folder in preferences and deleted cached fonts from AppData but no fix.
What's going on?

Also I figured out it only works with fonts that are not in Windows fonts folder...
Monospace and Serif font families were not in Windows fonts folder when I checked.

No replies ??? It is probably more of a your Windows System rather than Gimp. I normally use linux so no Windows expert but Gimp 3.0.6 in a Windows 10 (and 11) VM, and all the fonts are showing. I tried deleting the fontconfig folder as well, no effect when re-scanning fonts. I have had a search around and nothing apart from some old posts.

As a possible long-shot, rename your Gimp user profile ......\AppData\Roaming\GIMP to \AppData\Roaming\GIMP-backup
and start Gimp to make a new default profile and hopefully Gimp will re-scan the Windows fonts. (or maybe not)

Noticed this has been up awhile too.
I only add extra fonts to my Windows fonts folder, (easier to install them). You can add them to Gimp's font folder if you prefer. Anyway gimp will only use what is in your system already or what you add to the gimp font folder.
