How do I color Bevel Text? - Black Ball - 03-17-2026 Can someone tell me how to color bevel text? Everytime I use bevel in filter and then curves, it’s a lot more harder to get something satisfactory than using Chrome. Below are two links to Pinterest for what im trying to to create. https://pin.it/5KQGsJ2gp https://pin.it/6RqESXrrh RE: How do I color Bevel Text? - rich2005 - 03-17-2026 You can try the "old" way using the color curves and dragging the value curve in a zig-zag. [attachment=14322] The GEGL bevel is not too bad but to apply effects using Gimp 3.2 looks like you have to rasterize it (lose the text property) Start off with text in a light blue with a touch of grey colour. Lose the text property. Add a bevel Apply the color curve (with merge effect on) Use Colorize for some other colour. one minute video https://sendvid.com/a5xyhix3 RE: How do I color Bevel Text? - CmykStudent_ - 03-17-2026 (03-17-2026, 09:09 PM)rich2005 Wrote: The GEGL bevel is not too bad but to apply effects using Gimp 3.2 looks like you have to rasterize it (lose the text property) Just a note that that happened anyway in GIMP 3.0. The main difference is that you have to explictly agree to rasterize it, rather than be surprised when you merge a filter and then lose the text information.
RE: How do I color Bevel Text? - Black Ball - 03-18-2026 Thanks. This mostly worked, however, I couldn't find rasterize under layers RE: How do I color Bevel Text? - sallyanne - 03-18-2026 (03-18-2026, 05:31 AM)Black Ball Wrote: Thanks. RE: How do I color Bevel Text? - Black Ball - 03-18-2026 Still don't see any rasterise effect in layers. I can only assume my options switch it out for something else? I also have another question. When it comes to gradients, how can I get it to look better? Does it come down to how I use the curves?

Then 'rasterise' is not visible (normal). RE: How do I color Bevel Text? - rich2005 - 03-18-2026 There is an explanation of rasterize layers back in post #3 Using color curves - not a good result using that gradient. Other ways for a bevel. There is the bevel in Filters -> Generic -> Text Styling which will work, It has some extra options like inner glow. Then the gimp_gmic_qt plugin http://www.gmic.eu Maybe a bit drastic but it is different. This the Illuminate 2D [attachment=14327] |
