Keyboard Shortcuts in V3 not working - TeckyWalla - 07-30-2026
I have another problem with V3, I have used the Free Sellect Tool (Lasso) many times in the past, but now with V3 I am getting the message Cannot subtract from empty selection?
( I just need to remove the background)
I have had sporadic results, if I do get it working, and pause to move view etc, it will not return or complete the definition path,, I get the above message?
And The lasso symbol shows it is not enabled?
I am experiencing it on more than one image.

You have the free select tool in subtract mode (1) on a canvas where there is no existing selection. In the tool options put the mode to replace (2) - the first icon on the left

This happens because sometime in the past you set the mode and Gimp by default remembers tool settings.
