I am suprised at the apparent number of people that select the black working screen for Gimp, going by the youtube videos out there.
Personally if I am goint to draft a drawing by hand, My first thing is to grab a WHITE sheet of paper to sketch it out on using a dark pencil etc..
Which I also tend to use with Gimp.
I wonder if they represent the majority ??

Same as you - I use a white (cream) background. I notice most of the internet has a white background. (big generalization
I think the dark backgrounds are a coding fad that was pushed as more acceptable by people who mostly code. The dark background on Davinci Resolve actually makes it hard to see any of the smaller text boxes.
