Gradient fill doesn't work the same in Gimp 2.10.2? - sorceress21 - 06-13-2018

In Gimp 2.8.16 If I am working with an image with an alpha channel, select a certain color or area, click on the Gradient Blend Tool then swipe the tool across the screen at the angle I want, the selected areas ONLY fill with the gradient.

When I do the exact same thing with the exact same image in Gimp 2.10.2 initially it works, but when I click "select none" to clear the selection line the gradient paints into the entire image, overwrites the original image content and the path line remains.

It's infuriating!!! No doubt it's something I am doing wrong so can someone please tell me how to fix this?

Why are you doing 'select->none'?

The way it works now: you select the area you want to fill with a gradient, set a start and end point, then you can dynamically move the points. When you have it how you like, then press 'ENTER'.

-edit I think you are doing 'select->none' before you hit the ENTER key to finalize your gradient. If you select none before you hit enter, then yes, I have the same issue you are experiencing.

Thank you!!!!
