Distress Selection - Espermaschine - 06-23-2018

This script is under Selection -> Distort.
Im interested in the steps.

As far as i can tell, it does the following:

- Spread
- Blur
- Levels (alpha)

But the code says Threshold instead of Levels, which is odd, because Threshold doesnt have an alpha option.

Code:

; distress selection

Allright, thanks !

I still need the steps to do it manually.

RE: Distress Selection - Espermaschine - 06-26-2018

I still need an answer on the steps, please.

Anybody ?

RE: Distress Selection - Ofnuts - 06-26-2018

As far as I can tell:
  • Add new transparent layer
  • Bucket-fill selection
  • Filters>Noise>Spread (give a width)
  • Blur (with radius somewhat smaller than width above, depending on smoothness)
  • Add layer mask, transfer alpha channel
  • Apply threshold on mask
  • Blur result for something a bit smoother
  • Apply mask
  • Alpha to selection

Thanks !

RE: Distress Selection - sallyanne - 07-03-2018

Liked using that one. It isn't working at all in my 2.10.2 Sad

RE: Distress Selection - Ofnuts - 07-03-2018

Works fine for me (2.10.2 on Linux *and* Win7)

RE: Distress Selection - dinasset - 07-03-2018

What is the effect (purpose) of this filter?
Is there an example of use?
Thanks

It creates a randomly jagged selection (initial circle selection on left, result on right):
