Textures - Where do you find them? - Gamer28 - 10-02-2018 Hi there, I came across a great website that provides pictures of all the different types of camoflage in the world. You can search by country: http://camopedia.org/index.php?title=Main_Page I was hoping to find a picture of the type of color that US soldiers used during the Vietnam war - a type of olive green. However, because it is not considered camoflage, this site does not have a copy of it. Does anyone know of any other websites similar to Camopedia? If you wanted to use Gimp to make a US Army uniform, where would you go to find the right color scheme to copy? For example there is a one here https://imgur.com/gallery/3nexs not great quality but a starting point. Might be ok for that plain colour. edit: Or maybe this is a better one https://www.les-crises.fr/assaut-sur-lambassade-loffensive-du-tet-cinquante-ans-apres-par-don-north/ To get a pattern there are ways of making your own see: https://gimplearn.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=149#p392 or a bit copy/paste/scale/resynthesize to get a tilable pattern. example RE: Textures - Where do you find them? - mholder - 10-02-2018 The technical term for that green is OG107, or olive green 107. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OG-107 Dark olive green is close, and some sites claim the hex code is #556B2F https://www.color-hex.com/color/556b2f I would reduce the saturation a bit, and even add some slight CIE noise to the final texture. I prefer #5b6942 as a bit less saturated, but it really depends on the context. |
