Change color of a smiley face - johnorion - 12-06-2019

Brand new to this.  This is basic, but I've been through several tutorials and can't seem to figure this out, everything involves manually tracing the image which seems impossible to me by mouse.

How do I change the color from white to something else?

Thanks so much!

Color select -> bucket does this:

What's the way to get this correct??

If you don't need an exact color and just want to eyeball it, try Color > Colorize. Play with the sliders to get a result you like.

If you need the color to be exact, you can use Color to Alpha to remove the white and put a colored layer behind it. If that's what you need I can post better instructions.
