Help please - keithchesterfield - 03-29-2020

Hello, a first time post.

I have downloaded the GIMP 2.10.18 for Windows on my PC and I'm getting what you see in Pic 1.

When I went to get advice in video form with Youtube everyone had the layout as in Pic 2.

Pardon my ignorance but what do I need to do to get it to that format ?

I realise it's probably I'm doing something completely wrong but any helpful advice you can give would be appreciated.

You have closed the docks. Probably with the TAB key. Gimp remembers settings between sessions

Go to the Windows menu and untick Hide Docks (the tab key toggles)

Thanks for the prompt reply - this is how it is set at the moment  - the 'Hide Docks' is already unticked.

Are you really using WindowsXP?

Your screenshot shows that you are not in Single Window Mode. Tick the Single-Window Mode box.

Might be a good idea to go to Edit -> Preferences -> Windows Management and reset to default values as well. Click on the "Reset Saved Windows...." button and restart Gimp.

Yes, that worked – many thanks.

We, hopefully, learn by our mistakes and I've certainly learned something today.
