Brush color issue - sl60 - 06-02-2020

The paint brush will not change to selected color, even though Image>Mode>RGB is selected.

Any ideas?

It depend son the type of the brush. A brush made from a grayscale image (Image>Mode>Grayscale) works as a mask and assumes the FG color. A brush from an RGB image (even if all grayscale) keeps its color(s).

I set the palette for black and the brush painted gray.

Check the brush opacity, and makes sure Dynamics are turned off. Otherwise please post a screenshot of your brush options.

I see earlier post you are now using Gimp 2.10

Can you post the brush you are using and screenshot as previous post?
Is it one of the stock Gimp brushes or something else. An example of RGB versus Grayscale is easily demonstrated in Gimp 2.10 where the clipboard brush (from a selection) has a 'mask' version = grayscale. That will take the Foreground colour.

If the brush is not solid black / white then there are 'shades' of the foreground colour, not solid.
