is format jpg safe? - kenny1999 - 02-10-2021

what I mean is
I know that if a picture (for example which contains personal information that I have
hidden) is saved as xcf it is possible that it can be reversed and hidden information could '
be revealed.

I know the answer is yes but I'm not tech geek so just wish to make sure

If I hide something and save it as jpg or jpeg or bmp is it final? and just totally
Impossible to reverse the hidden part right??

Are you talking about file metadata? Or a hidden (not displayed) layer? Or something else?

Metadata? Did you mean those shown when I click on properties of a file? No if you are talking about this.

I am talking about a picture , and then I draw a solid square box (for example) on top
of part of a picture because I want to hide this part, and save it as jpg/jpeg/bmp, is it then
impossible to remove the square box and show the hidden part again??

For a jpeg image ? Recover redacted parts? No. A jpeg is just a collection of pixels, nothing under them.
However there is possibly lots of other information. Could an embedded thumbnail keep the pre-redacted image ? Unlikely but a very tiny possibility.

More than a few ways of removing all the excess information. Guessing a GUI is favourable for you.
Get XNviewMP https://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?f=82&t=41429 This can strip that metadata from one or several images easily.

example: https://i.imgur.com/UPPAiMa.jpg Before - Lots of data, camera information, dates and times, sometimes geographical location. After - Only the color profile (RGB type).

To clean information from jpg files I use jpg cleaner since it was available : https://jpg-cleaner.en.softonic.com
It still work on windows 10 64 bit
