How to blend 2 same colors, light and dark, in gimp 2.10 - fenpeppertree - 10-29-2021

Confused How can I get a hazy-like blend with a light and dark color of the same color, so that the color is not a static, plain, solid color in Gimp 2.10?  Huh

I have tried the smudge tool, but it erases down to the alpha channel background in places, which just makes it very difficult, not to mention annoying and unsatisfactory.

Really all depends on the nature of the image. A plain 2 colour with a straight dividing line - maybe a gradient linking the parts. More likely a complex image. Can you post an example somewhere, such as imgur.com

OK, the first two images are what I did using the smudge tool, and it worked fine. But that was just a test, and not the actual project I'm working on. The next image #3, is a part of the project. It is the dot of the letter 'i' in a text phrase. After I isolated the pink area, I tried using the smudge tool, but you can see along the edges how it messes up.

Is there any way to get the effect in image #2 copied or something and just paste it in somehow to all the pieces (text letters) in my project?

Still not too sure Wink Is it light pink text on a darker pink background ?

If it is, then try a gradient with the Shape = shaped(angular)

I hope you have a decent size of text, and preferbly a bold font.

Light text in Gimp gives rise to some nasty edge artifacts. With the text layer active.

Select the text. Layer -> Transparency -> Alpha-to-Selection
Erase round the selection, Edit -> Stroke selection Using the Eraser tool (edit: remember to use a 2 or 3 pixel brush size)
Now fill the selection with the gradient tool, FG (light pink) to BG (dark pink) shaped angular. There is a center point for a little bit of adjustment.
Then Select -> None

Maybe it is what you want, if not more details please. example: https://i.imgur.com/ssvREjn.mp4
