possible to scale paths to the center? - denzjos - 11-10-2021
I wonder if there is an option for paths in gimp that act as the scale a layer option (right click in the layer dock / Scale Layer). The option as here described set the scaled layer in the center of an existing layer, the scale option in the gimp menu (Tools / Transform Tools / Scale) set the scaled layer (path or image) on the left side of an existing layer. I can scale vertical path layers to the left side and then shift them to the right position, but for the project I'm working on it should be easier to scale paths to the center of an exiting layer.

When you scale a path with the scale tool, you can:
- Drag the center of the path to any place you want
- Check the Around center option (or depress the Ctrl key)

Do not forget the united transform tool. Do all your scaling , rotating in one operation, experiment with the modifiers shift / ctrl / alt

Thank you rich for that explanation. In the composition I am working on, the path must fit with the picture after both scaling.

If that is scaling the layer and the path with the same proportions, then you can link path and layer together and scale both at the same time. shift-ctrl for symmetrical scale about the center point marker.

rich, I knew paths and drawings could be linked but didn't get the idea to apply that here with the unified transform tool. Good idea, I'll try it out. thanks
