.gih brushes - Pat625 - 09-24-2017

Is there a script to convert Photoshop tube brushes to .gih so I can use it in GIMP?  Every now and then I see one that I would like to use but it is Photoshop.  If no script, can it be done manually?

A photoshop .abr file can have many brushes in the file. Many, but not all, .abr brushes can be used in Gimp. Depends on the photoshop version used to create the .abr file.

There is an old plugin that can open a .abr file in Gimp as layers. Then export as a .gih

Attached is the 32 bit version (13kb exe). There may be a newer 64 bit version, but I don't have it.

EDIT: Forum won't let me attach a .exe file. So I have put it in Dropbox

Forgot to say
The .exe goes in your plug-ins folder

Are you sure that it is a Photoshop 'tube' brush?

PaintShopPro used name.tube for the equivalent of Gimp .gih animated brushes (image tubes)

If that is what you are after, some info here: http://www.mahvin.com/2016/10/psp-tubes-revisited-converting-psp.html

And some already converted: http://www.mahvin.com/p/gimp-tubes.html

Too dangerous anyway, many antivirus will jump the gun when they see you downloading a .EXE.

But you can zip it and attach the ZIP (up to 500K).

As far as I know, PS does not have this feature.  All PS brushes are monochrome, and the brush engine is pretty nice, but full color bitmap brushes with alternate tips simply do not exist.  I would love to be wrong here, since image hoses are some of the most powerful painting tools.
I talk to long term PS users and some (not all) are truly ignorant of what animated brushes even are.  And it doesn't look like PS is going to get this feature anytime soon.

@Pat625, If I'm wrong let me know.  I would love to have this in PS.  It is a major reason Gimp will never be replaced by PS for me.

Oh, I am really sorry, I have had photoshop conversions on my mind lately and mistook PSP for PhotoShop instead of PaintShop! Thank you for directing me to Mahvin's site. He also explains things nicely.
